Neocatechumenal Way

A journey to rediscover the faith

The Neocatechumenal Way is a path of Catholic formation and renewal of Christian life, present in our parish of San Sebastián for over 50 years, helping to rediscover the richness of baptism.

Currently, the Parish of San Sebastián hosts nine communities.

What is the Neocatechumenal Way?

The Neocatechumenal Way, which began in 1964 in Madrid, Spain, was inspired by Francisco José Gómez Argüello (Kiko) and Carmen Hernández, and is based on the experience of the Gospel among the poor and marginalized. This movement of Christian initiation was born from Kiko's experience with the most disadvantaged, driven by a deep existential crisis that led him to discover Christ in the suffering of the innocent. With the theological support of Carmen, formed in the renewal of Vatican II, and missionary zeal, the Way expanded from the shantytowns of Madrid to Rome and beyond.
